Discover everything you need to know about roller garage doors and their unique features.
What is a roller garage door?
Roller garage doors are made up of horizontal laths, hinged together to create a concertina effect, the garage door lifts vertically and rolls up into a box cover at the head of the garage door opening, requiring minimal space inside the garage.
This space-saving design means you can make full use of the space inside your garage, as the ceiling area remains free and can be used for lighting or additional storage space.
What is a GaraGlide garage door?
The GaraGlide is an electrically operated automatic door that uses a tubular motor positioned at the end of the barrel, inside the box cover. There is a mechanical stop between the top lath and the roller barrel which prevents the door from being lifted by an intruder when in a closed position.
It is equipped with a mechanically adjustable end-of-travel position, to set the doors open and close parameters and has an optical sensor built into the floor seal for automatic safety reversal. This garage door also has an internal crank handle for emergency release in case of power failure, and an additional external emergency release is highly recommended if you have no further access into your garage.
What is a GaraRoll garage door?
The GaraRoll is electrically operated with a chain driven operator and unique spring balanced system, minimising the strain on the motor and ensuring a long life. Double tension springs and double lifting cables prevent the door crashing down in the event of a spring or cable failure. This operator incorporates force limitation technology (pressure sensitivity), therefore it automatically recognises obstructions and safely reverses.
The GaraRoll has the DuraBelt anti-scratch system which is specifically designed to reduce scratches and prolong the life of the curtain. The belt is made from a microcellular polyurethane elastomer and provides a protective layer between each lath as they roll up when the door is open.
The GaraRoll also has the option of being manually operated.
What are the benefits of a roller garage door?
The roller garage door provides numerous benefits, similar to other garage door options. Consider these 5 advantages when determining if it's the best fit for your property.
Space Saving - A roller garage door saves space by lifting vertically and rolling into a covered box a the top of the door opening. The roller door does not require any tracks along the ceiling of the garage and does not protrude into the driveway when opening so you can park your car as close as possible.
Energy Saving - The aluminium profiles are filled with CFC-free polyurethane foam which provides good thermal insulation to enhance energy savings.
Security - Behind the frame fitted roller garage doors are a great security addition to your home. The mechanical stop between the top lath and the roller barrel prevents the door from being lifted by an intruder when in a closed position giving you peace of mind that your belongings are safe.
Automated - An automated roller garage door gives you the luxury of opening and closing your garage door at the push of a button, making these doors easy to operate.
Colour/Design - Both the GaraGlide and GaraRoll come with a choice of 16 standard colours and additional timber effect choices. Additionally, you can add windows to the laths for an individual design creating a door to suit your every need and compliment your homes aesthetic.
